Amorial Bearings of Robert Ritherdon

Armorial Bearings granted on the 18th May 1801 to Robert Ritherdon of the parish of St Botolph, Aldgate in the City of London, Goldsmith and Major of the Honourable Artillery Company, son of George Ritherdon, late of the same place, Goldsmith, deceased. The grant to include all the descendants of the father.


Azure on a saltire ermine between a crossbow erect in chief, two leopards' faces in fesse and one in base or, a portcullis sable. Crest, a dexter arm in armour embowed proper garnished or, charged with a grenade fired proper, the hand grasping a sword intended to represent that of the Major of the honourable Artillery Company, having on the guard the Plume of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, Colonel of the said Company.
